Chamber Music Evening Concert

Fri 7 Nov 2025 8pm

Esplanade Recital Studio

About this programme

Schubert Piano Sonata in a minor D.845

Mozart Piano Quartet in g minor K. 478

Beethoven String Quartet in E-flat major Op. 127

Created in 1825 was the first of Beethoven’s set of late string quartets in the heroic key of E-flat major ~ preceded this evening by two works in minor keys - Schubert’s Piano Sonata D.845, the first of three Sonatas published during his lifetime; and the first of two Piano Quartets Mozart had written 40 years prior.

Chamber Orchestral Evening Concert

Sat 8 Nov 2025 8pm

Victoria Concert Hall

About this programme

Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in d minor K. 466

Beethoven Grosse Fuge Op. 133 for string orchestra

Mendelssohn String Octet in E-flat major Op. 20

This evening juxtaposes two works created in 1825 – young Mendelssohn’s greatly beloved String Octet, full of youthful energy and optimism for life, composed at the precocious age of 16 ~ and Beethoven’s single-movement composition for string quartet, an incomprehensible and fiendish double fugue (here arranged for string orchestra) - both preceded by Mozart’s dramatic d minor Piano Concerto, a favourite of Beethoven’s which he kept in his performing repertoire.

Revisiting cornerstone masterpieces of the classical chamber music repertoire after two centuries through an intimate chamber music Evening Concert, a grand chamber orchestral Evening Concert, interactive Concerts for Children, and much more ~ the responsibility of bringing forth the music of this historically significant project dal segno 1825 will rest on the shoulders of the internationally acclaimed chamber musicians of Chamber Music and Arts Singapore:

  • Violist of Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet, Julianne Lee
  • Solo German cellist and former founding member of Artemis Quartet, Eckart Runge
  • Artistic Director of Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Candida Thompson
  • Principal violist of Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Ida Bryhn
  • Violinist of Oslo String Quartet, Liv Hilde Klokk
