सार
Spend Good Friday afternoon with the Aoi Trio as they bring you a concert of piano trios, from Beethoven's 'Ghost' Trio that Beethoven's pupil Carl Czerny commented, reminding him about "an appearance from the underworld... the first appearance of the ghost in Hamlet" to some of the last pieces the talented Lili Boulanger wrote before her untimely death in 1918 at the tragically tender age of 24. Tragedy alternates with exuberance in Dvořák's most popular trio, the Piano Trio no. 4 in E Minor 'Dumky'.
PROGRAMME
Ludwig van Beethoven Piano trio No. 5 in D major op. 70-1 “Ghost”
Lili Boulanger D'un soir triste (on a sad evening)
Lili Boulanger D'un Matin De Printemps (on a spring morning)
Antonín Dvořák Piano trio No. 4 E minor op. 90 “Dumky”
Duration - 90mins with 20min intermission
Featuring
Aoi Trio
Aoi Trio was founded in 2016 by Kyoko Ogawa (violin), Yu Ito (cello), and Kosuke Akimoto (piano), all of whom graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts and studied at the renowned Chamber Music Academy of Suntory Hall (Tokyo) for 2 years. After winning at ARD competition, they worked under Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartett) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
Aoi Trio is appearing at more than 20 concerts every year at the major venues not only in Japan but Germany, Italy, France, Czech, Singapore and USA. They served as a resident ensemble at Kioi Hall 2022-2024, and recently they are working 7 years project with Suntory Hall and serving as the resident ensemble at Fukinoto Hall Sapporo 2025-2027.
“Aoi” refers to the initial letters of their individual family names and is also the name of a flower in Japanese language, which is commonly known as “hollylock” in Europe and symbolises “aspiration” or “fruitfulness.”
