Program ini memberi penghormatan kepada Allahyarham Pak Suratman Markasan – seorang sasterawan, pemikir dan pendidik ulung serta karya-karyanya yang telah membentuk dunia kesusasteraan Melayu dan pendidikan di Singapura. Sesi ini akan dimulakan dengan ucaptama yang menyingkap sumbangan Pak Suratman terhadap pendidikan, khususnya bagaimana beliau menghubungkan kesusasteraan, jati diri budaya dan pembentukan minda generasi muda. Seterusnya, tiga penyair daripada Meja Conteng akan menyampaikan karya asli mereka sebagai respons kontemporari terhadap puisi-puisi Pak Suratman.
Program ini dikendalikan dalam Bahasa Melayu dan dipersembahkan bersama Taman Warisan Melayu (TWM).
This programme honours the legacy of Suratman Markasan – renowned writer, thinker and educator whose works have profoundly shaped Malay literature and education in Singapore. Listen in to an insightful keynote lecture highlighting Suratman’s contributions to education, exploring how his ideas bridged literature, cultural identity, and the shaping of young minds. Following this, three poets from Meja Conteng will present original works written as contemporary responses to Suratman’s poetry.
This programme is in Malay and is co-presented with the Malay Heritage Centre (MHC).
