The 14th Thisaivegam Festival of Tamil Dramas shines a spotlight on Singapore Tamil short stories, transforming powerful written narratives into engaging stage performances.
For the first time, this edition brings together a wide selection of local Tamil short stories in one festival, celebrating the richness of Singapore Tamil writing and the lived experiences of our community. Each story reflects a different part of life — from family relationships and personal sacrifice to humour, identity, social issues, and emotional growth.
Featured stories include Kerani, a moving tale of dignity, class, and parental sacrifice; Newton’s Third Law, which explores how every action in life carries consequences; Thaduppusi, a family drama set during the COVID-19 pandemic; Kadaisi Naal, a nostalgic story about the closing of a hawker stall; Coffee Table, a humorous look at married life and household chaos; Kannadi Ninaivugal, a reflective story about memory and identity; and Kaatrin Mozhi, a story of heartbreak, healing, and self-worth. Through these stories, Thisaivegam 2026 honours local literature, celebrates Singapore Tamil identity, and gives new life to the voices and experiences of our community.
