This presentation explores how Malay-language heritage stories can foster identity, curiosity, and early literacy, while introducing young learners to Singapore’s multicultural history and shared heritage.
Drawing from the PCFSP Heritage Series, inspired by different parts of old Singapore and its diverse communities, it will demonstrate how educators and parents can use rich, local narratives to strengthen language skills, encourage reading, and support meaning-making in multilingual settings. The presentation also highlights how Malay-language storytelling can help children explore not only Malay heritage but Singapore’s wider multicultural landscape, promoting intercultural respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging.
This programme will be conducted in both Malay and English.
Reminder: To book a workshop, you will need to purchase a Festival Pass here.
