An advocate for preserving Singapore's cultural legacy, Yong's journey began with his award-winning honours thesis. His honours thesis at the National University of Singapore earned him the Preservation of Monuments Board's Best Thesis Award in 2009, affirming his love for Singapore heritage. An innovator in educational outreach, Yong has seamlessly blended digital storytelling with immersive experiences. His curated heritage walks and social media content offer fresh perspectives on Singapore's architectural marvels, making history accessible and exciting for a new generation. An emerging voice in the heritage community, Yong's expertise has been sought after for high-profile events such as the Singapore HeritageFest 2024, 2025 and Singapore Design Week 2024, 2025. A multifaceted professional, Yong brings a wealth of experience to his role as a heritage educator. His background includes professional positions at Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore, where he honed his skills in strategic planning, curriculum innovation, and global relations. He admits that becoming an urban storyteller and heritage educator was not his original plan, but rather a result of his genuine curiosity and desire to make sense of life.
