Material Attention with Pat Toh
Disrupt the anthropocentric lens through which we perceive the inanimate world. This workshop explores modes of attention that expand the relationship between the body and objects, beginning with a guided practice to refine sensitivity to subtle bodily sensations. Participants will build upon their existing movement vocabulary, cultivating an awareness that allows internal feelings to be articulated through eloquent body language. Shifting focus outward, participants translate an object’s form, weight, and texture into embodied sensation. By investigating materiality and emotive potential, the workshop creates a dialogue between self and material, expanding perspectives on human and non-human consciousness. Participants are invited to bring an object to work with during the session. Level: Beginner

Artist Bio
Pat Toh (@pattohling) creates performances at the intersection of theatre, dance, and live art. Her work centres the body as site, resource, and medium, exploring sensate and visceral experiences within the entanglements of objects, technologies, and social structures. Often stripping performance of decorative elements, her works engage themes of labour, survival, and resilience. A Shell–NAC Arts Scholarship recipient, she holds a BA in Acting from NIDA (Australia) and an MA in Arts and Education from NTU–NIE (Singapore). Her works have been presented across Asia and Europe. She is an Associate Artist with Dance Nucleus (Singapore).

They are not intended as barriers for those hungry to learn; however, we highly encourage all participants to honestly assess their physical readiness and movement foundation before signing up to ensure the best experience for themselves and the group.
Beginner
Recommended experience level: min. 6 months in movement-based classes.
Expectation: Sessions move at an accessible pace, focusing on fundamental patterns, coordination, and learning new sequences.
Intermediate
Recommended experience level: min 1 year consistent experience in dance or movement training.
Expectation: Physical stamina and mental agility. Expect more intricate phrase work, quicker pickups, and a deeper dive into the specific aesthetic and "groove" of the artist.
Advanced
Recommended experience level: High-level training; suitable for semi-professional and professional movers or participants with min. 2 years of experience in dance training.
Expectation: Artistic nuance and complexity. These workshops move at a professional pace, challenging participants with sophisticated material, performance-level energy, and advanced spatial awareness.
Open
Recommended experience level: Understanding of basic dance principles and a willingness to explore.
Expectation: Creative research and improvisation. These sessions are 100% process-based, prioritizing individual discovery, spontaneity, and the artist’s unique creative methodology over set choreography.

- Prices exclude the ticketing agent's booking fees.
- Once sold, tickets are strictly non-refundable or exchangeable unless the Singapore government mandates the closure of events in Singapore.
