Storytelling is an essential skill for the 21st Century; a skill that is useful in every aspect of our lives. If you are interested in storytelling, but don’t know where to start, this one day workshop facilitated by Sheila Wee is for you. It will enable you to gain a firm grounding in storytelling skills and you will leave with one ready-to-tell story and the tools and the confidence to learn and tell more. In a warm and supportive group environment you will learn why storytelling is such a powerful form of communication; how stories can be structured to hook listeners' attention, and discover your own personal storytelling style. Through group, partner, and individual exercises, you will be guided through a step-by-step method of learning to tell a story without memorising the words. You will also discover how to add details to make a story uniquely yours, and learn effective story rehearsal and performance techniques. 29 August 2026, 9.30am – 5.30pm | In-Person

In this one-day introductory workshop, veteran storyteller Sheila Wee will guide participants through the essential skills needed to begin their storytelling journey.
Participants will:
Understand the fundamentals of storytelling and why it is a powerful communication tool
Learn how to structure stories to engage and sustain audience attention
Discover their personal storytelling style through guided group and individual exercises
Develop performance techniques using vocal expression, energy, and body language
Practise a step-by-step method to learn and tell a story without memorising it word-for-word
By the end of the programme, participants will have one ready-to-tell story and the confidence and tools to continue developing their storytelling practice.
Cancellation Policy
The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the date if the minimum number of 8 participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for programmes cancelled by us.
Participants who are unable to attend a programme they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the programme date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents). Those who did not turn up at the programme will not receive a refund. Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the terms and conditions and cancellation policy and accept the terms contained therein. Sheila Wee is a Singaporean storyteller who has been living and breathing the oral tradition since 1998. A driving force behind the revival of oral storytelling in Singapore, Sheila has spent decades years helping others unlock the power of story — to connect, to teach, to influence.
Through her work with Storywise, Sheila delivers dynamic storytelling programmes across a wide range of audiences. Her work spans playful storytelling in preschools, cultural storytelling in museums and heritage spaces, and impactful workshops on storytelling for influence — designed for corporate teams, government agencies, and educational institutions.
Sheila is also a founding director of the Federation of Asian Storytellers (FEAST), where she mentors emerging tellers and helps build a strong storytelling community across the region. She’s brought her storytelling magic to audiences in twelve countries across Asia, Europe, and the Pacific — including Australia, India, South Korea, and the UK — and now she’s bringing it to you.
