Jazzin' through the Arco and Romántico is a unique collaboration between the NUS Jazz Band (NJB) and string musicians from the NUS Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO). Exploring the creative possibilities that arise when classical and jazz music collide, the concert will feature tunes ranging from Disney classics like "When You Wish Upon a Star" to romantic favourites like "This Guy’s in Love with You" and “My Man’s Gone Now”. The programme also proudly features arrangements by NJB's very own talented band members
Late Seating Policy
Latecomers cannot be admitted until an appropriate break in the show. For shows without an intermission, latecomers may risk being denied entry if there is no appropriate break in the show.
Admission of Children
All children require a purchased ticket for entry. As a courtesy to other audience members, infants in arms and prams, and children below six years of age cannot be admitted for ticketed shows.

NUS Jazz Band
The NUS Jazz Band was formed in 1994 by a group of budding jazz musicians. Exploring both traditional jazz standards and fresh compositions, the band displays its versatility through its variety of performances, including corporate engagements and its series of sold-out annual concerts. Members of the NUS Jazz Band network and grow under the tutelage of distinguished international jazz musicians.
As the only tertiary jazz group that houses its own big band, vocal ensemble, and combo bands, the NUS Jazz Band delivers a rich brew of captivating jazz music from swing to soul, fusion to funk, and bossa to blues
Chok Kerong
Chok Kerong is one of Singapore’s most versatile musical talents: a keyboardist, composer, songwriter, and producer known for extraordinary clarity and depth. His diverse works have been performed by major ensembles and artists including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Randy Brecker, Joanna Dong, and Jeremy Monteiro.
Kerong has released two instrumental records, Good Company (2012) and Tales They Told Me (2017), and has led his own groups at international events like the Tokyo, Taipei and Melbourne International Jazz Festivals. In 2023, he released Spiral, a critically acclaimed collaborative album with Vanessa Fernandez, showcasing his skills as a producer. His recent works include Through the Nebula: Concerto for Saxophone, commissioned by the SSO, and Here We Are, the official theme song for the 2025 National Day Parade, co-written with Charlie Lim.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Kerong is the Principal Tutor of the NUS Jazz Band and serves as Assistant Executive Director and Deputy Music Director at the Jazz Association (Singapore). He was recognized with the Composer and Authors Society of Singapore’s "Artistic Excellence Award" in 2025.
Musicians from NUSSO
The string section features guest musicians from the NUS Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO), an orchestra comprising talented students from all faculties. They share a passion for music, a dedication to exploring collaborative ensemble performances, and a commitment to engaging with the community through music-making. As members of NUSSO, they are exposed to diverse repertoire and leadership opportunities, nurturing their musical and leadership skills. In this spirit, they value these opportunities to create new musical experiences with other fellow performers
