Ia juga akan membincangkan trend penerbitan semasa di rantau ini, serta menawarkan pandangan tentang peluang dan cabaran yang dihadapi oleh para penulis masa kini. Sesuai untuk penulis yang bercita-cita, penggemar sastera, dan sesiapa sahaja yang ingin mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang dunia penceritaan dan penerbitan. Sesi ini akan berlangsung dalam Bahasa Melayu. Moderated by award-winning Singapore writer, Mr Farihan Bahron, this fireside chat will explore the guest author’s, Dr Mawar Safei, journey from inspiration to publication, highlighting how writing can evolve into a fulfilling career. It will also delve into current publishing trends in the region, offering insights into the opportunities and challenges faced by writers today. Ideal for aspiring authors, literature enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the world of storytelling and publishing. The programme will be conducted in Malay Language.

The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for programmes cancelled by us.
Participants who are unable to attend a programme they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the programme date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents). Those who did not turn up at the programme will not receive a refund. Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the terms and conditions and cancellation policy and accept the terms contained therein. Dr. Mawar Safei is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), specializing in creative writing and literary criticism. She earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honours (1995) and Master of Arts (1997) from UKM, followed by a PhD in Comparative Literature from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2006.
Mawar has published several volumes of short stories (including Zel (1998), Montaj II (2002), Masitah (2007/2009) and Narasi Gua dan Raqim (2014)), many academic articles, and has received numerous literary awards such as the Utusan Melayu-Public Bank Literary Prize, Hadiah Sastera Perdana Malaysia, and the S.E.A. Write Award (2018).
Farihan Bahron is a Singaporean writer and co-founder of the publishing outfit Unggun Creative. He has received numerous accolades, including the Anugerah Harapan (Promising Award) in 2017, the Singapore Literature Prize in 2018, 2022, and 2024, and the Anugerah Persuratan (Malay Literary Award) in 2020/2021 and 2023.
His creative works—spanning poetry, short stories, and novels—have consistently excelled in literary competitions such as the Golden Point Award (2003, 2015) and Mencari Kristal (2016). In 2023, he was honoured with the Penghargaan Sastrawan Muda (Young Laureate Appreciation) by MASTERA Indonesia (Southeast Asian Literary Council).
Farihan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Malay Language and Literature from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (2024) and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Malay Studies at Universiti Malaya.
