NUS Piano Ensemble
The NUS Piano Ensemble (NUSPE) focuses uniquely on piano ensemble repertoire and takes pride in exploring obscure works and 20th century repertoire in Singapore’s vibrant arts scene. NUSPE allows its members to continue pursuing their passion in piano while developing their skills beyond solo performance.
Under the management of Centre for the Arts (CFA), NUS Office of Student Affairs (OSA), NUSPE seeks to promote the appreciation of piano ensemble music. Besides providing performance opportunities for aspiring pianists, NUSPE offers its members the novel experience of collaborating with different musicians.
Founded in 1987 by a handful of undergraduates passionate about piano performance and ensembleship, NUSPE has thrived ever since its inception. Initially focused on solo piano works, the ensemble subsequently expanded its repertoire to include piano works for duet and duo, which form the core of its repertoire today. NUSPE has grown into a dynamic classical music group, staging creative and well-received recitals and concerts throughout the year, especially the Freshmen Concert, and the flagship concert, TOUCH.
Through performances and activities, NUSPE aspires to pave the way forward for the further exploration and development of piano ensemble music in the NUS community and beyond.
